Properly cared-for skin is less susceptible to skin inflammation, allergies and diseases, and less sensitive to environmental influences such as cold, wind, heat, dust or direct sunlight.
The key steps to good skin care are:
- cleansing,
- moisturising,
- nourishment,
- protection.
Cleaning. All skin types need to be cleansed of dirt, dust, make-up, damaged cells, disease-causing bacteria and oil. These fill the skin's pores and make it difficult for it to breathe. In addition, all skincare products are more effective when applied to well-cleansed skin. Tap water is not always recommended for cleansing the face. It is better to cleanse the skin with special gels, balms, toners, salves, lotions or milks. These products do not interfere with the protective functions of the stratum corneum. The skin should be cleansed every day, morning and evening. The surface of clean skin has an acidic reaction which prevents the growth of harmful microbes. The normal pH of the skin surface is approximately 4.5 for men and 5.5 for women. Washing the skin with soap temporarily raises the pH level, but healthy skin regains its normal pH level relatively quickly. If you use detergents with a pH of 5, they will not change the pH of your skin. Oily waters have a pH of around 5, so they can be used for facial cleansing, make-up removal, washing.
Hydration. Moisturising cosmetics prevent imperceptible water loss and maintain the skin's optimal moisture content, leaving it smooth, supple and velvety. It's a good idea to moisturise your skin daily with a floral water sprayed directly on your face, as this will help reduce the effects of dry air and environmental pollution on your skin, as well as invigorate you during a long day at work.
Feeding. Nourishment is the process by which the skin receives the components it needs to function normally: fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, trace elements. The main function of nourishing creams, serums, oils is to restore the natural protective barrier, to saturate the skin with nourishing ingredients and moisture. You can safely use one of the cosmetic facial oils to nourish your skin, applying them every evening or as needed. The oils can also be used as masks - apply generously and after 10 min wipe the face with a make-up wipe.
Protection. The skin needs to be protected against the adverse factors of the external environment by using special active ingredients - antioxidants, vitamins, UV filters. This is where floral waters can come in again, supplying your skin with anti-oxidants, protecting it from environmental influences and strengthening your protective cream or make-up.
