How to Determine My Skin Type and Care for It Correctly?

Did you know that your skin’s needs change depending on its type? Understanding your skin condition is the first and most important step towards an effective and suitable skincare routine. Let's look at the most common skin types and how best to care for them.

Each skin type has characteristic features that help determine the right care strategy.

1. Dry Skin

A) Signs: The skin feels tight after cleansing, and it has low sebum production. Small cracks and redness may appear.

B) Care: The priority is moisture and fats (lipids). Choose rich and deeply moisturizing care products. The best choice for dry skin care will be Green Wing facial oils which contain medicinal herbs and natural oils. Choose from 3 options – with algae, with apple extract, or with chamomile and rosehip.

Avoid: Products that contain too much alcohol (e.g., various facial toners), as alcohol dries out the skin even further. Check the ingredient list before you buy.

2. Normal Skin

A) Signs: The skin is resilient, fine-pored, firm, and relatively insensitive. The moisture balance is in harmony.

B) Care: Light creams and a moderate lipid (fat) content are sufficient to maintain balance. Normal skin definitely does not need to be overdone with excessive care, so refreshing with floral waters daily will already be 90% of the routine – freshness and care at once.

C) Avoid: Synthetic and aggressive ingredients that can harm the skin in the long term.

3. Combination Skin

A) Signs: In some areas (e.g., the T-zone – nose, forehead, chin), the skin is oily and shiny, with larger, open pores and blackheads, while in other areas (cheeks), it may be dry or normal.

B) Care: Care products with more moisture and a light lipid content are recommended. Different areas of the face may require a different approach. Definitely try Green Wing facial serums, which are applied as a moisturizing base layer or as the only care product. Observe your skin balancing after a month of use.

C) Avoid: Heavy, dense creams; opt for light serums and allow the skin to breathe.

4. Sensitive Skin

A) Signs: May manifest as redness, itching, burning, and dryness. Often reacts to specific care products.

B) Care: It is important to identify and avoid irritants (triggers/allergens). Choose gentle, non-allergenic, and soothing products. We have developed several allergen-free products for sensitive skin – choose the Apple & Hydro line or the new hibiscus line which is completely fragrance-free.

C) Avoid: Synthetic and aggressive ingredients; do not choose products with known allergens. Research the product's ingredient list before buying, aiming for "allergen-free," "for sensitive skin," or similar indications.

5. Mature Skin

A) Signs: The skin’s needs change; it requires support for cell renewal and collagen production. Good hydration and the stimulation of natural defense mechanisms are necessary.

B) Care: Focus on care products that fight aging, promote natural renewal, and provide intense hydration. The DEEP SEA product line with algae extract was created specifically for this type of skin – check out the products in our store.

C) Avoid: Synthetic and aggressive ingredients, "low-end" products that contain very few anti-aging active ingredients.

Remember that the skin's condition can change depending on the environment, age, season, and hormonal fluctuations. Pay attention to how your skin feels immediately after cleansing – this often provides the most accurate indication of your current skin condition and skin type overall.
